Are you a professional caregiver for an adult who has serious heart failure? This study is testing whether electronic educational resources, in addition to in-person training , help home aids be more knowledgeable and confident in caring for adults who have serious heart failure. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 75 years old, be employed at Visiting Nurse Service of New York's Partners in Care agency, and care for an adult who has heart failure. This study is located in New York, New York.

Do you have metabolic syndrome? This trial is testing whether low-intensity exercise or high-intensity exercise works best to lower the risk of heart and blood vessel diseases in people who have metabolic syndrome and are taking a medicine called metformin to treat high blood sugar levels. To participate in this study, you must be between 40 and 80 years old and diagnosed with metabolic syndrome but not type 2 diabetes. This study takes place in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Do you or your child have overweight or obesity? This study aims to find effective ways to prevent and treat obesity and metabolic syndrome in African American communities. The study will test the effectiveness of a family-based comprehensive health and fitness programs involving community health workers. Participants must be 12 years old or older and African American and have overweight or obesity. This study takes place in Charleston, South Carolina.

Does your child have higher triglyceride levels but normal cholesterol levels? This study is testing whether a protein supplement called carnitine can help prevent blood vessel stiffness in teenagers who have metabolic syndrome or other risk factors for heart and blood vessel diseases. Participants in this study must be between 13 and 19 years old and have moderate to high blood triglyceride levels but normal blood cholesterol levels. This study takes place in Houston, Texas.

Do you have low blood pressure due to primary autonomic failure from a medical condition such as Parkinson disease, multiple system atrophy, or pure autonomic failure? Autonomic failure is caused by problems with a part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system. People with this condition can suffer debilitating low blood pressure upon standing. This study is testing the use of compression garments compared with a medicine called midodrine to improve blood pressure. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 80 years old and have low blood pressure when standing. This study takes place in Nashville, Tennessee.

Do you have cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarct and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) or want to help someone with the condition? This study aims to learn more about a rare genetic disease called CADASIL. This condition causes small blood vessels in the body to become narrow, which can block blood flow to the brain and lead to a stroke. The study includes blood, urine, and imaging tests. This study is developing new methods for imaging the heart and blood vessels using MRI to improve how healthcare providers diagnose people with heart failure. Do you have symptoms of a lung disease (such as long-term wet cough, bronchiectasis, or recurrent pneumonia) with no genetic diagnosis? This study aims to develop new ways to diagnose primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) or primary immune deficiency (PID), two conditions that can have similar symptoms. Researchers will combine information from genetic testing, lung imaging, and lung function tests to diagnose and tell the difference between these two conditions. Participants in this study must be 5 to 45 years old and must have symptoms of a serious lung disease but no diagnosis. This study is taking place at multiple locations in the United States and in Canada, including the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
