The Jackson Heart Study, conducted in the Jackson, Mississippi, metropolitan area, is the first large-scale study of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in African Americans. This data book presents in lay language the results of the study. It also provides health information for all African Americans about CVD, its risk factors, and ways to prevent and control the disease.
