Do you or does your child have a lipid disorder and want to improve future diagnosis and treatment?
This study is exploring how different diagnostic tests can help us understand how lipid disorders, including high blood cholesterol, affect the body. Information from this study may help improve the way lipid disorders are diagnosed or treated in the future. To participate, you or your child must be at least 2 years old. The study is being conducted in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you take medicine for high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol?
This study will test a program that asks pharmacists to reach out to patients who have high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, or diabetes and help them stick to their plans for taking and refilling their medicines as prescribed. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 75 years old. The study location is in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Do you or your child have obesity and high blood cholesterol or triglycerides?
This study is testing the use of a statin in young people to see whether early treatment of high blood cholesterol can affect the risk of developing plaque in blood vessels. Participants in this study must be age 10-17, have a body mass index (BMI) in the obese range, be fluent in English, and not be pregnant.

Are you living with HIV and high blood cholesterol or high blood pressure?
This study is evaluating a nurse-led reminder system to help people who have HIV stay on track with their heart medicines. Participants will have four visits with a nurse, who will help them manage their medicine schedule with telephone reminders. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old; have HIV, high blood cholesterol, or high blood pressure or be taking medicines to manage these conditions; and have access to a telephone. This study is located in Cleveland, Ohio, and Durham, North Carolina.

Are you an adult who is healthy or has problems with the level of cholesterol or other lipids in the blood? This study is gathering information on the risk factors for very high or very low levels of lipids, or fats, in the blood. Researchers will collect participants’ demographic information, medical history, and blood samples. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old. This study takes place in Dallas, Texas.

Do you or a loved one have pneumonia?
This study will test whether combining two medicines to reduce inflammation of the airway and to keep it open may help prevent respiratory failure in people who have pneumonia. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and have severe pneumonia with low blood oxygen levels.

Do you have symptoms of a lung disease (such as long-term wet cough, bronchiectasis, or recurrent pneumonia) with no genetic diagnosis? This study aims to develop new ways to diagnose primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) or primary immune deficiency (PID), two conditions that can have similar symptoms. Researchers will combine information from genetic testing, lung imaging, and lung function tests to diagnose and tell the difference between these two conditions. Participants in this study must be 5 to 45 years old and must have symptoms of a serious lung disease but no diagnosis. This study is taking place at multiple locations in the United States and in Canada, including the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Are you a healthy adult or someone with a history of lung infections such as pneumonia or bronchitis? This study aims to compare fluid and tissue samples from the nose and lungs of healthy adults with people who have a lung disease. Researchers hope to learn why some people are more susceptible to certain infections. This study is located at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
