People with obesity have a high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD).
People with obesity have a high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Some hormones in the body, called natriuretic peptides, help lower your risk of CVD. When these hormones are low, they increase the risk of developing diabetes and poor heart health. This can lead to an increased risk of developing CVD. This study looks at how lower levels of the hormones made by the heart contribute to heart health. You may be able to participate if you are 18 years old or older, you will allow the collection of genetic material, and you are willing to follow the study protocol that includes an exercise regimen. This study is recruiting in Birmingham, Alabama.

Do you have obesity?
Do you have obesity? Obese individuals also have lower levels of circulating Natriuretic Peptides. Natriuretic Peptides are hormones produced by the heart, which directly regulate non-dipping blood pressure by causing dilation of blood vessels and by removing sodium and water from the body. This study is evaluating the effect of the timing of administration of a medication that helps many people with obesity. To participate in the study, you must be 18 years or above and your body mass index should be between 30 to 45. This study is located in Birmingham, Alabama.
