Publication about ideal U.S. employers features NHLBI investigator

Description

We at the NHLBI share with our colleagues in other components of the NIH a commitment to providing an environment that attracts and stimulates the most promising and productive scientific minds. As a testament to the NIH's success in fostering career excellence, a survey of nearly 60,000 students conducted by Universum Global ranked the NIH as the #1 Ideal Employer in the United States for the natural sciences in 2012.

We are pleased to note that the survey report features our own Justin Taraska, Ph.D., who joined the NHLBI Division of Intramural Research (DIR) in 2010 as a principal investigator in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Imaging. Taraska recently received a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) for his research on vesicles in excitable nerve cells.

"Justin exemplifies the bright young investigators that we are constantly seeking to attract to enable us to continue our rich history of path-breaking scientific discovery that will lead the way to further public health advancement," said DIR Scientific Director Robert S. Balaban, Ph.D.
