An NHLBI-funded study showed that the addition of a nurse-led intervention for hypertension management to health insurance coverage was more effective in lowering blood pressure than the provision of health insurance alone in Ghana. The study, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, is particularly important because this Sub-Saharan country is in a region of Africa where high blood pressure is rampant.
