Study reveals genetic factors associated with blood lipid levels

Researchers identified hundreds of genetic variants associated with bloods levels of lipids—molecules that are risk factors for cardiovascular disease. These findings reveal that activation of certain genes could reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. The study, published in Nature Genetics, was partly funded by NHLBI.
