More research needed on clinical significance of clonal populations

Bone marrow failure and blood cancer are often associated with mutations in identical cell populations known as blood stem cell clones. In a recent perspective article published in Blood, NHLBI scientists caution against overtreatment of these diseases based on genomic testing until more is known about the basic biology of these clonal populations.
