We Can!™ Training

Training: The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as the process through which one acquires skills or knowledge.

We Can! defines it as a way for you to either invigorate your existing programming, or kick off new programming.

To help communities implement We Can! curricula and programming, We Can! conducts training events across the country, including regional training and on-demand training.

If you're interested specifically in the We Can! Parent Program, you don't even need to leave your desk to receive training for that curriculum. We Can! created an online training that is as close as the click of your mouse. Just fire up your computer, log on, and learn. While there, you can also tap into several other resources that can assist you in launching your We Can! programming or re-energize your current program(s) through new ideas, tips, and technical assistance.

Remember, We Can! trainings are supplementary, not required. As always, we are here to answer your questions and provide support as needed, just e-mail nhlbiinfo@nhlbi.nih.gov.

Online Training

We Can! developed a nine-chapter online training that teaches you all about the We Can! Energize Our Families: Parent Program. The training will guide program facilitators in delivering the four-session curriculum specifically geared toward parents, teaching them skills to help the whole family make more nutritious food choices, become more physically active, and reduce screen time. An added bonus is that this online training features on-the-ground tips from a number of program facilitators who have successfully run the program at We Can! community sites across the country.

Regional Trainings

These one-and-a-half day meetings are hosted by the We Can! team and its partners. These instructional, interactive trainings provide an overview of the We Can! program, tips from leaders in the field who have implemented the program, instruction on each of the four We Can! curricula, and networking opportunities to community members concerned about the growing problem of overweight children. E-mail nhlbiinfo@nhlbi.nih.gov to be added to the regional training waiting list.

Trainings-on-Demand

While regional trainings are general, providing a one-size-fits-all approach, trainings-on-demand are custom-fit trainings that specifically meet your community's needs. They are ideal for those communities who have shorter timelines to get their programming off the ground, and therefore would like to schedule a training sooner rather than later. Each site is responsible for funding and staffing this type of training itself. To request more information, please download and complete the We Can! training request form with all the necessary details. Then send it to nhlbiinfo@nhlbi.nih.gov. You will receive a receipt, and the We Can! team will be readily available to assist you in order to get your training off the ground.
