The NHLBI DIR Orloff Science Awards are named in honor of Dr. Jack Orloff, a longtime member of the NHLBI intramural family and scientific director from 1974-1988. They were initiated in 2011 to recognize scientific or scientific infrastructure achievements that reached fruition during the previous calendar year. The award emphasizes the DIR teamwork, including (but are not limited to) scientists, clinicians, core facility staff, technicians, technical staff, and administrative support that contributed substantively to the work to make these achievements possible and are selected by the NHLBI IC Director and Scientific Director.
