This research study is designed to learn, first, whether two anesthetics have different effects on collapse seen within the upper airway during sleep endoscopy. A second purpose is to learn whether collapse at several levels of the upper airway is associated with obstructive sleep apnea that persists after adenotonsillectomy, the surgery that removes the tonsils and adenoids.

This double-blind placebo-controlled parallel group randomized study design will be used to test whether 4 weeks of atorvastatin 10 mg daily reduces levels of inflammatory markers in OSA patients treated with CPAP (standard of care). The purpose of this study is to investigate: 1) whether statins reduce endothelial inflammation and pro-thrombotic conditions in OSA, including in patients adherent to CPAP (Aim 1); and 2) whether statins reduce endothelial inflammation and pro-thrombotic conditions by improving endothelial cholesterol metabolism and trafficking in OSA (Aim 2).

The trial will enroll individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The primary design will be a randomized double-blind 6-sequence, 3-period, 3-treatment sequential crossover trial for which the investigators will randomize participants to receive 81mg, 162mg, and 325mg aspirin in one of six pre-specified sequences with a 14-day washout period between doses. Participants will have three follow-up visits after randomization.

The purpose of this study is to assess the acceptability, feasibility, and preliminary effectiveness of implementing a 30-day digitally-enabled community health worker intervention compared to usual care with a community health worker in reducing heart failure 30-day readmissions within a pilot randomized controlled trial.

This study evaluates a sensor-controlled digital game (SCDG) to motivate self-management behaviors of weight monitoring and physical activity in adults with heart failure (HF). Half of the participants will receive the SCDG app and weight monitoring and physical activity sensors and the other half will receive only the weight monitoring and physical activity sensors.

This study will use CM to engage in the community dialogues, organize outreach facilitation, and advocacy for the adoption of bioethanol-based and liquified petroleum gas (LPG) CF-CS across participating households. The choice of CM strategy is deliberate because, unlike western culture, African cultures are largely based on communal hierarchy.

This study will conduct a randomized controlled trial evaluating a melatonin intervention started during hospitalization and continued after discharge compared to placebo. The trial will investigate if this intervention is feasible, acceptable, and effective at reducing sleep wake disturbances as measured on the Sleep Disturbances Scale for Children 1-month after hospital discharge.

Shift work increases the risk for diabetes possibly due to the adverse metabolic effects of circadian misalignment. As shift work is not foreseen to disappear, the development of individually-targeted therapies for metabolic health in these vulnerable shift workers is urgently needed. This research will determine whether our dietary intervention can mitigate the adverse metabolic effects of circadian misalignment, which may help in the design of evidence-based dietary interventions to improve the metabolic health in shift workers.
