Are you 15 to 40 years old and have severe sickle cell disease? This study is comparing long-term outcomes for patients who receive blood and bone marrow transplants and those who receive standard treatment with medicines. Participants also have an option of contributing blood samples to be stored for future research. Participants must be 15 to 40 years old and have severe sickle cell disease. This study is located in Madison, Wisconsin.

Do you or your child have sickle cell disease and also have an interest in contributing to long-term data collection? This study is monitoring patients and collecting biological samples from patients who have sickle cell disease to better understand long-term outcomes. Participants can be any age and must have sickle cell disease. This study is located in six sites in Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Are you scheduled for a stem cell transplant with cord blood? This study will assess the safety and effectiveness of certain cord blood transplants. The study will help researchers learn the best methods for collecting, storing, and using cord blood in transplants. To participate in this study, you must have a disorder that compromises your body’s ability to make blood cells. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Are you living with HIV and high blood cholesterol or high blood pressure? This study is evaluating a nurse-led reminder system to help people who have HIV stay on track with their heart medicines. Participants will have four visits with a nurse, and the nurse will help them manage their medicine schedule with telephone reminders. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old; have HIV, high blood cholesterol, or high blood pressure or be taking medicines to manage these conditions; and have access to a telephone. This study is located in Cleveland, Ohio, and Durham, North Carolina.

Did you develop atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery? Did you develop atrial fibrillation after a coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery? This study is looking at how well oral anticoagulation medicines work to prevent complications, such as blood clots and heart attack, for patients who experience post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF). This study is in multiple locations around the country.

Therapeutics for Inpatients With COVID-19 (TICO) This study will investigate the safety and effectiveness of different medicines, such as remdesivir, in treating people who have been hospitalized for COVID-19. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old, be hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment, and have had symptoms for less than 12 days. This study is located in Atlanta, Georgia; Durham and Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; and Dallas, Texas.

Are you an adult with sickle cell disease? This study aims to determine whether monthly exchange blood transfusions (removing blood and replacing it with transfused red blood cells) can improve health and prevent or reduce the number of pain crises. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old, have sickle cell disease, and have not been on a chronic exchange transfusion program for at least 2 months. This study is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Do you want to help find new treatments for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction? This study is testing whether a medicine called spironolactone can help treat heart failure with preserved ejection fraction when paired with the standard treatment. Spironolactone helps to remove excess water and sodium from the body. To participate in this study, you must be between 50 and 99 years old and diagnosed with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
