Have you had a heart attack, and do you want to help improve strategies for blood transfusion? The study is comparing two strategies for blood transfusions in heart attack patients who have anemia—whether to give a blood transfusion when the hemoglobin level is less than 10 g/dL, or to give blood only when the blood count is below 8 g/dL. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old, have anemia, and be hospitalized for a heart attack. The study is located in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Do you or one of your children have a congenital heart defect? This study will find both common genetic causes of congenital heart disease and ways that genes influence results of medical treatment. To participate in this study, you or your child must have congenital heart disease. Are you an adult with congenital heart disease? This study uses whole exome sequencing and other genetic tests to identify causes of congenital heart diseases that occur in individuals and families. To participate in this study, you must be an adult with congenital heart disease with or without a family member with congenital heart disease. This study is located in Columbus, Ohio.

Do you or your child have pulmonary hypertension and want to help research? This study is looking to better understand pulmonary hypertension in children who have this condition. To participate in this study, you or your child must be 21 years old or younger and must have been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension before the age of 18. This study is located at multiple sites across the United States and Canada, including California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Alberta, Canada.

Are you scheduled for a stem cell transplant with cord blood? This study will assess the safety and effectiveness of certain cord blood transplants. The study will help researchers learn the best methods for collecting, storing, and using cord blood in transplants. Are you between 40 and 85 with worsening idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis? This study aims to test a new combination treatment for acute exacerbations, a life-threatening complication of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) that has no approved treatment. The treatment is meant to help stop part of the immune system from further injuring the lung tissue. To participate in this study, you must be between 40 and 85 years old and have worsening IPF. This study is located in Birmingham, Alabama; Boston, Massachusetts; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Has your newborn been diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus? Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a condition in which a connection between two major blood vessels close to the heart does not close properly after birth. This affects blood flow to the lungs and may cause neonatal respiratory diseases. PDA may correct itself, but sometimes treatment may be necessary. This study aims to identify ways by which doctors can predict which cases of PDA need to be treated. To participate in this study, your newborn must have been born between 23 and 29 weeks’ gestation and have been diagnosed with PDA. This study is located in Columbus, Ohio.

Are you an adult woman who would like to help develop methods to prevent the worsening of LAM? This study aims to discover whether earlier and longer treatment with a lower dose of sirolimus can help prevent LAM from getting worse over time. To participate in this study, you must be female, be at least 18 years old, and have been diagnosed with LAM.
