This study is testing whether a medicine called metformin can help treat aortic aneurisms in the abdomen. The study will use imaging tests to examine whether metformin can help prevent these aortic aneurisms from getting bigger. To participate in this study, you must be 55 to 90 years old and diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurism. This study takes place in Stanford, California.

Are you between 65 and 85 years old and are a patient at Stanford? This study will evaluate the effect of an electronic health record (EHR) screening tool on rates of new noninvasive testing, diagnosis, and treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD) over a 6-month period. The EHR-based screening tool will generate a group of patients at the highest risk of having undiagnosed PAD to participate in the study. To participate in this study, you must be between 65 and 85 years old, have at least 1 year of data with the Stanford EHR, and have no prior diagnosis of PAD. This study takes place in Palo Alto, California.

This study investigates the use of a treatment using therapeutic proteins in people with asthma and seeks to determine whether its use can lower inflammation in patients. Are you an adult currently being treated for rhinosinusitis (nasal inflammation) who would like to support research into the condition? This study is collecting blood, secretion, and tissue samples from people undergoing procedures to treat long-term rhinosinusitis. Rhinosinusitis, another term for nasal inflammation, is common in people who have asthma. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 80 years old. Are you or your child between 12 and 35 years old, currently using an inhaler to treat asthma, and interested in supporting research into telehealth to control and improve asthma symptoms? This study is evaluating the use of video telehealthcare to help adolescents and young adults with asthma take their medication correctly and on time. This study takes place in multiple locations across the United States.

Are you a 30- to 55-year-old smoker or non-smoker who would like to support better understanding of COPD risk factors? This study aims to find early signs of COPD in adults who have a high risk of this condition. Researchers will compare results from questionnaires, lung tests, and other tests in people who smoke and in people who do not smoke to look for factors that predict which people will develop COPD. To participate in this study, you must either currently smoke or have no history of smoking. This study takes place in multiple locations in the United States.

Do you or your child have symptoms of a serious lung disease but no diagnosis? This study aims to develop new ways to diagnose primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) and primary immune deficiency (PID), two conditions that can have similar symptoms. Researchers will combine information from genetic testing, lung imaging, and lung function tests to diagnose ant tell the difference between these two conditions. Participants in this study must be 5 to 45 years old. This study is taking place at multiple locations in the United States and in Canada.

Do you take opioids for pain relief? You may have a higher risk of sleep disordered breathing. This study is testing whether positive airway pressure (PAP) can help treat sleep disordered breathing in individuals using opioids. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and either healthy or taking opioids to treat long-term pain. This study takes place in San Diego, California.
