Are you scheduled for a stem cell transplant with cord blood? This study will assess the safety and effectiveness of certain cord blood transplants. The study will help researchers learn the best methods for collecting, storing, and using cord blood in transplants. To participate in this study, you must have a disorder that compromises your body’s ability to make blood cells. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you or a loved one have pneumonia? This study will test whether combining two medicines to reduce inflammation of the airway and to keep it open may help prevent respiratory failure in people who have pneumonia. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and have severe pneumonia with low blood oxygen levels.

Do you want to help find new treatments for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction? This study is testing whether a medicine called spironolactone can help treat heart failure with preserved ejection fraction when paired with the standard treatment. Spironolactone helps to remove excess water and sodium from the body. To participate in this study, you must be between 50 and 99 years old and diagnosed with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

Do you have heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF)? This study is testing the efficacy of a diuretic medicine called spironolactone that stops your body from absorbing too much salt and keeps your potassium levels from dropping too low. Participants of this study must be between 50 and 99 years old and already taking diuretic medicine. This study takes place in multiple locations across the United States and Sweden.

Are you or your child between 12 and 35 years old, currently using an inhaler to treat asthma, and interested in supporting research into telehealth to control and improve asthma symptoms? This study is evaluating the use of video telehealthcare to help adolescents and young adults with asthma take their medication correctly and on time. Have you or your child been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and would you like to support better diagnosis of lung infections? This study is exploring new ways to diagnose bacterial lung infections in people who have cystic fibrosis. The study will test whether analyzing a participant’s breath and sputum samples can help diagnose infections. Participants in this study must be at least 3 years old. This study is taking place in multiple locations in the United States.

Are you an adult who has been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)? This study will examine whether adding N-acetylcysteine (NAC) to standard treatment improves key indicators of IPF, including symptoms, in people with the TOLLIP rs3750920 TT genotype who are living with the disease. You must be age 40 or older to participate in this study. This study takes place in multiple locations.

Have you been diagnosed with high blood pressure while pregnant? This study is investigating whether a mother’s blood pressure during pregnancy affects her newborn’s lung development. To participate in this study, your newborn must have been born either prematurely at more than 25 weeks’ gestation or at full term to a healthy mother or a mother who was diagnosed with high blood pressure during pregnancy. This study is located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Was your newborn born prematurely? This study aims to better understand the effects of premature delivery on a baby’s lungs during his or her first year of life. To participate in this study, your newborn must have been born prematurely between 24 and 36 weeks’ gestation and not have any congenital heart or lung defects. This study is located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
