The goal of this mechanistic clinical trial is to learn about the effects of medications called soluble guanylyl cyclase stimulators on vascular function and markers of kidney and brain injury in patients having heart surgery. This will provide important information to determine the underlying reasons that patients have some kidney and brain function problems after having heart surgery.

Are you scheduled for open-heart surgery for your aortic valve? This study aims to look at changes in inflammation and gene activity while surgery patients are on a heart-lung bypass machine. To participate in this study, you must be at least 20 years old and be scheduled for aortic valve surgery, either with or without coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

This study is looking at how well oral anticoagulation medicines work to prevent complications, such as blood clots and heart attack, for patients who experience post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF). Are you planning to have coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery to treat your heart disease? This study aims to use computed tomography (CT) imaging to help doctors and their patients make better decisions about heart surgery. To participate in this study, you must be at least 40 years old and be scheduled for a CABG. This study is located in Palo Alto and San Diego, California

Are you an adult planning to have heart surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or Texas Heart Institute? This study is looking into the genetic causes of heart problems that can happen after heart surgery, such as atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, renal dysfunction, and heart failure. To participate in this study, you must be between 20 and 90 years old. This study takes place in Boston, Massachusetts; and Dallas and Houston, Texas.

This study is being done to test the comparative effectiveness of participating in a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at home using new technology and health coaching following dismissal from the hospital compared to the referral to a center based pulmonary rehabilitation that may include the choice of center based or telehealth.

This project will compare the effectiveness of two novel strategies - one involving video narratives of other patients telling their story of how they overcame challenges and completed PR, the other involving telephonic peer coaching with an individual with lived experience - to enhanced usual care, and to each other, at increasing patient participation in PR after an exacerbation.

Are you an adult who has received urgent care for moderate to serious COPD in the past 4 weeks? This study aims to find out whether a method called Comprehensive Health Informatics Engagement Framework for Pulmonary Rehabilitation can help people who have COPD stick to their treatment plan. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old. This study takes place in New York, New York.
