Are you scheduled for open-heart surgery for your aortic valve? This study aims to look at changes in inflammation and gene activity while surgery patients are on a heart-lung bypass machine. To participate in this study, you must be at least 20 years old and be scheduled for aortic valve surgery, either with or without coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

This study is looking at how well oral anticoagulation medicines work to prevent complications, such as blood clots and heart attack, for patients who experience post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF). This study is looking at whether using two or more arterial grafts instead of one reduces complications following surgery and improves survival rates for patients. Are you an adult planning to have heart surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or Texas Heart Institute? This study is looking into the genetic causes of heart problems that can happen after heart surgery, such as atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, renal dysfunction, and heart failure. To participate in this study, you must be between 20 and 90 years old. This study takes place in Boston, Massachusetts; and Dallas and Houston, Texas.

Do you have a heart or blood vessel disease, such as peripheral artery disease? This study aims to collect data and samples from people who have a heart or blood vessel disease. This may include blood tests, ultrasound exams, and heart and lung tests. Family members and healthy people may also participate. The results may help researchers better understand PAD and other heart and blood vessel diseases. Participants must be at least 2 years old. Women who are pregnant may not take part in some study activities. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Are you an adult who has PAD and difficulty walking? This study is testing whether a medicine that helps the body make more white blood cells can, along with walking exercise, improve symptoms and blood flow in people who have PAD. To participate in this study, you must be between 21 and 80 years old and have PAD. Women must not be pregnant and must use birth control or have been surgically sterilized if they still have menstrual periods. This study is located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Are you an adult who has PAD and overweight or obesity? This study aims to learn whether participating in an exercise program with a weight loss program reduces PAD signs and symptoms more than an exercise program alone. To participate, you must be between 18 and 85 years old, have PAD, and have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 28 but less than 45. Participants must also be willing to use a smartphone and attend weekly study sessions. This study is located in Evanston, Illinois; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Do you or your child have a platelet, bleeding, or white blood cell disorder? This study is looking at people who have platelet or other blood disorders. The researchers will use a blood sample to look for problems with platelets and a possible genetic cause in the participant’s DNA or RNA. To participate in this study, you must be a child or adult who either is healthy or has a platelet disorder, coagulation disorder, or white blood cell disorder.
