The goal of this mechanistic clinical trial is to learn about the effects of medications called soluble guanylyl cyclase stimulators on vascular function and markers of kidney and brain injury in patients having heart surgery. This will provide important information to determine the underlying reasons that patients have some kidney and brain function problems after having heart surgery.

Do you have a Type B aortic dissection? Do you have a Type B aortic dissection? This study will compare a surgical procedure (TEVAR) followed by medical therapy to a more traditional approach using medical therapy with surveillance to determine if TEVAR can reduce complications. The TEVAR procedure is minimally-invasive. You may be able to participate if you are 18 years old or older. This study is recruiting in multiple locations.

Do you have heart failure and a HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist device (HM3 LVAD)? This study is testing a home-based exercise program to see if it can improve a person’s quality of life and ability to exercise. To participate in this study, you should be 18 years old or older and have a HeartMate 3™ LVAD that was recently implanted. This study is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Are you scheduled for elective cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass? Are you scheduled for elective cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass? Researchers are interested in understanding if pulsative flow during surgery can help prevent injury to the kidneys that may occasionally occur when cardiopulmonary bypass is used. You may be able to participate if you are 18 to 85 years old. This study is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Do you have tricuspid valve regurgitation? This study is testing a new procedure to repair the tricuspid valve in people who are not eligible for the standard surgery. To participate in this study, you should be 21 to 100 years old, have severe tricuspid valve regurgitation and congestive heart failure, and not be eligible for standard surgical repair. This study has multiple locations.

Are you scheduled for open-heart surgery for your aortic valve? This study aims to look at changes in inflammation and gene activity while surgery patients are on a heart-lung bypass machine. To participate in this study, you must be at least 20 years old and be scheduled for aortic valve surgery, either with or without coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

Did you develop atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery? Did you develop atrial fibrillation after a coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery? This study is looking at how well oral anticoagulation medicines work to prevent complications, such as blood clots and heart attack, for patients who experience post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF). This study is in multiple locations around the country.

Are you planning to have coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery to treat your heart disease? This study aims to use computed tomography (CT) imaging to help doctors and their patients make better decisions about heart surgery. To participate in this study, you must be at least 40 years old and be scheduled for a CABG. This study is located in Palo Alto and San Diego, California

Do you have mitral valve disease? This clinical trial is testing different types of images taken of the heart to learn more about mitral valve disease and the best ways to treat it. You must be 60 years old to participate. The study is enrolling patients in locations in Arkansas, California, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Quebec City, Canada.

Have you been diagnosed with nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? With nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy the heart muscle thickens, but blood flow is not significantly blocked by this because the thickened muscle does not obstruct blood flow as it exits the chamber. This study is testing a medicine that may improve heart function and exercise abilities for patients with symptomatic nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. To participate in this study, you should be 18 years old or older, be able to take oral medication, and be on a stable medication therapy.
