Does your child have sleep apnea? To study sleep apnea, researchers use a sleep endoscopy to look at the airway in a sleeping patient. Researchers want to know how two types of anesthesia work during a sleep endoscopy. Your child may be able to join if they are between 3 and 11 years old and need to have their tonsils/adenoids removed. The trial is taking place in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Do you have sleep apnea? Sleep apnea creates difficulty breathing during sleep and affects millions of Americans. People with sleep apnea often are treated with continuous positive airway pressure to help them breathe at night but it may be uncomfortable for some. Researchers are testing whether a medication can help people with sleep apnea. Participants must be 18 years old and have sleep apnea that they are not treating. The study is taking place in La Jolla, California.

Do you have moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)?
Do you have moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)? This study will examine factors associated with outcomes after soft palate surgery and medications that may treat other causes of OSA. If you are unable to tolerate positive airway pressure therapy, you may be able to participate in this study if you are 21 years old or older. This study is located in Santa Monica, California, and Westwood, California.

Are you prescribed opioids for chronic pain? If you are, you might have a higher chance of having breathing issues when you sleep. This problem is known as sleep-disordered breathing. Sleep-disordered breathing is often treated with a continuous positive airway pressure, or CPAP, machine to keep airways open. Researchers are now studying whether a medication can help sleep-disordered breathing instead of using the CPAP machine. You may be able to join this study if you are 18 years old, use opioids for chronic pain, and have sleep apnea. The study is taking place in San Diego, California.

Do you have moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or are you willing to help improve diagnosis and management of OSA?
Do you have moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or are you willing to help improve diagnosis and management of OSA? This study hopes to identify microRNAs specific to OSA that can be used as blood biomarkers to diagnose and manage the condition. You may be able to participate if you are between 18 and 75 years old and are willing to accept positive airway pressure therapy. Participants who do not have OSA are also needed to serve as a control comparison. This study is recruiting in Columbus, Ohio, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Do you have significant obstructive sleep apnea and use positive airway pressure therapy?
Do you have significant obstructive sleep apnea and use positive airway pressure therapy? This study will determine if the supplement N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is associated with sex-specific changes in overnight oxidative stress, inflammation, and dysfunction of the cells lining blood vessels. You may be able to participate if you are between 55 and 75 years old and experience greater than 15 sleep apnea events per hour on a portable sleep monitoring device. This study is located in New York City.
