Do you have coronary heart disease or are you healthy and would like to participate in research? This study is comparing how well two types of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners can detect different types of heart diseases, such as coronary heart disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, and heart valve disease. The new type of MRI scanner in this study uses less energy than a traditional scanner and may be suitable for people who have metal devices in their bodies. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you or your child have cardiovascular disease or want to help research? This study aims to improve cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques. The clinical investigators will use new MRI methods to look at healthy people and people who have heart problems. Participants in this study must be at least 7 years old, be healthy or have cardiovascular disease, and not be pregnant. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you or your child have cardiovascular disease or want to help research? This study aims to identify better MRI methods and new ways of imaging cardiovascular disease to understand cardiovascular and brain function. Researchers are also interested in seeing whether gadolinium, the commonly used MRI contrast agent, stays in the body long after an MRI is performed. To participate in this study, you or your child should be healthy or have a cardiovascular condition and be at least 7 years old.

Do you or your child have a disease affecting the blood vessels? This study is collecting blood samples to study the role of inflammation in diseases of the blood vessels, including coronary heart disease and sickle cell disease. To participate, you or your child must be at least 2 years old and either be healthy or have a disease affecting the blood vessels. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Are you able to have a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan and want to help people with heart failure? This study is developing new methods for imaging the heart and blood vessels using MRI to improve how healthcare providers diagnose people with heart failure. This study takes place in Maryland and Washington, DC.

Do you have heart disease or diabetes or are you a healthy adult who wants to help research on these conditions? This study will do imaging and blood tests on healthy adults and people who have heart disease or diabetes. Researchers want to know if there is a link between cardiometabolic disorders (a combination of medical disorders that, when they occur together, raise the risk of heart disease and diabetes) and inflammation (redness, swelling, and pain). This study is located at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you have a scheduled CT scan for heart disease? This study will look at different ways to take pictures of the heart and blood vessels using computed tomography (CT) that use less radiation than traditional scans. This study is located at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you have coronary artery disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, or left ventricular hypertrophy or want to help people with those conditions? This study is using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to measure heart metabolism, which provides the chemical energy that is needed for the heart to function normally. Researchers want to determine whether energy metabolism is reduced in heart failure and whether that contributes to the poor heart function. This study takes place in Baltimore, Maryland.

Are you an adult with sickle cell disease or would like to help research? Some people who have sickle cell disease are at greater risk for developing abnormal blood clots (venous thromboembolism). This could be a blood clot in the leg (called deep vein thrombosis) or a clot that can break off and travel to the lung (called a pulmonary embolism). This study will look at the blood of people who have sickle cell disease and venous thromboembolism, as well as healthy volunteers, to help researchers develop better treatments to prevent blood clots. Participants in this study must be between 18 and 80 years old and be either a healthy volunteer or have sickle cell disease or trait. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Are you an adult willing to give blood samples? This study investigates ways to prevent blood clotting in people with sickle cell disease. In this population, blood clotting is the most common cause of vascular death after heart attack and stroke. Scientists are studying the blood of people with sickle cell disease and comparing it with the blood of people without sickle cell disease over 2 years. To participate in this study, you must be between the ages of 18 and 80 years old and willing to participate for up to 2 years. This study takes place in Bethesda, Maryland.
