Do you or your child have cardiovascular disease or want to help research? This study aims to identify better MRI methods and new ways of imaging cardiovascular disease to understand cardiovascular and brain function. Researchers are also interested in seeing whether gadolinium, the commonly used MRI contrast agent, stays in the body long after an MRI is performed. To participate in this study, you or your child should be healthy or have a cardiovascular condition and be at least 7 years old.

Do you or your child have a disease affecting the blood vessels? This study is collecting blood samples to study the role of inflammation in diseases of the blood vessels, including coronary heart disease and sickle cell disease. To participate, you or your child must be at least 2 years old and either be healthy or have a disease affecting the blood vessels. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Do you have depression symptoms and have been diagnosed with coronary heart disease? This study aims to find out whether an online tool can help improve symptoms of depression in people who have coronary heart disease and encourage them to start treatment for depression. To participate in this study, you must be at least 21 years old and have symptoms of depression and a history of coronary heart disease. This study is located in New York, New York.

This study is developing new methods for imaging the heart and blood vessels using MRI to improve how healthcare providers diagnose people with heart failure. Are you an adult with obesity and at high risk of heart and blood vessel disease? This study is testing a new program to help people who have obesity stick to their healthy eating plan. Researchers from this study are developing a program that will predict when participants are most likely to stop making healthy food choices and will send messages to remind participants of their weight loss goals. To participate in this study, you must be 18 to 70 years old, have overweight or obesity, and be at high risk of heart and blood vessel diseases. This study takes place in Providence, Rhode Island.

Have you experienced a cardiac event in the past 6 months? This study assesses the efficacy of combining center-based and remote- or home-based cardiac rehabilitation sessions. Many patients who require cardiac rehabilitation, including those with angina myocardial infarction, heart failure, heart valve disease, and coronary heart (artery) disease, do not complete the necessary amount of rehabilitation sessions when done in a center-based environment. Researchers are investigating whether a combination approach will help. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 85 years old. This study takes place in Detroit, Michigan.

Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) impairs oxygen transport to tissue and causes endothelial injury. Thus, therapeutic interventions aim to improve both, but there is an unmet need for biomarkers to determine when intervention is necessary and evaluate the effectiveness of the chosen intervention in individual patients. This study proposes to monitor SCD and its treatment through their impact on cerebral hemodynamics, as the brain is one of the most vulnerable and consequential targets of the disease. Specifically, this study will optimize quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and advanced optical spectroscopy techniques such as frequency-domain near-infrared and diffuse correlation spectroscopies (FDNIRS-DCS) to monitor 1) cerebral oxygen transport with measures of cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral oxygen extraction fraction (OEF) and cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen consumption (CMRO2) and 2) endothelial function with cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR).
