Participants from this study will be recruited mainly from Emory Healthcare-associated hospitals, the Emory Heart Disease Center for Prevention, and Emory Healthcare outpatient cardiology clinics. Participants will have physical exams, blood tests, stress tests, exercise tests, surveys, questionnaires, and images taken of their hearts and blood vessels. They will be asked to take home devices to monitor their autonomic function, sleep and to track their mood, stress level, and symptoms for one week. Data and specimens will be saved for future research.

The study objective is to compare neurodevelopmental (ND) and behavioral outcomes between children with Down syndrome (DS) who had complete atrioventricular septal defect (CAVSD) repair and children from the same clinical sites with DS without major congenital heart disease (CHD) requiring previous or planned CHD surgery.

PREVENTABLE is a multi-center, randomized, parallel group, placebo-controlled superiority study. Participants will be randomized 1:1 to atorvastatin 40 mg or placebo. This large study conducted in community-dwelling older adults without cardiovascular disease (CVD) or dementia will demonstrate the benefit of statins for reducing the primary composite of death, dementia, and persistent disability and secondary composites including mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and cardiovascular events.

Do you or your child have obesity and high blood cholesterol or triglycerides? This study is testing the use of a statin in young people to see whether early treatment of high blood cholesterol can affect the risk of developing plaque in blood vessels. Participants in this study must be age 10-17, have a body mass index (BMI) in the obese range, be fluent in English, and not be pregnant.

Are you an adult who has had a heart CT or PET scan? This study is using new software to combine information from two imaging tests (computed tomography [CT] and positron emission tomography [PET] scans) to noninvasively measure blood flow in the heart. To participate in this study, you must be 18 years of age or older. You must have also received at least one of three prior tests for coronary artery disease: invasive cardiac catheterization, CT angiogram (CTA), or cardiac PET. This study takes place in Atlanta, Georgia.
