Are you a Minnesota resident with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? This study aims to find out how common it is for people with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy to also have sleep apnea. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a disease that causes the heart muscle to thicken. Participants will also wear a heart rhythm monitor to help researchers learn whether sleep apnea is linked to arrhythmia. The study seeks healthy volunteers as well as participants in the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Registry. To participate in this study, you must not have had a catheter ablation procedure to treat atrial fibrillation, had surgery to replace your heart valves, or been treated for sleep apnea. The study is located in Rochester, Minnesota.

Are you being treated for atrial fibrillation? This study aims to compare two types of ablation treatment for patients who continue to have symptoms of atrial fibrillation despite treatment with medicines. The two ablation procedures treat different areas of tissue. To participate in this study, you must be at least 21 years old. The study is located in Palo Alto and San Diego, California.

Do you know someone who will be having heart surgery? This study aims to identify what genetic patterns might cause atrial fibrillation and other adverse events that happen after heart surgery. To participate in this study, you must be between 20 and 90 years old. The study is in three locations in Massachusetts and Texas.

Did you develop atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery? Did you develop atrial fibrillation after a coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery? This study is looking at how well oral anticoagulation medicines work to prevent complications, such as blood clots and heart attack, for patients who experience post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF). This study is in multiple locations around the country.

Are you an adult with atrial fibrillation who recently had a catheter ablation procedure? This study will investigate the effectiveness of an implantable cardiac monitor-guided device to monitor participants for recurrent atrial fibrillation following ablation. This study is located in Rochester, New York.

Are you an adult planning to have heart surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or Texas Heart Institute? This study is looking into the genetic causes of heart problems that can happen after heart surgery, such as atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, renal dysfunction, and heart failure. To participate in this study, you must be between 20 and 90 years old. This study takes place in Boston, Massachusetts; and Dallas and Houston, Texas.

Do you or your child have a lung disease? This study will investigate the genes involved in the breathing process and in the development of lung diseases such as asthma or sarcoidosis to improve understanding of the role they play. To participate in this study, you or your child must be between 2 and 90 years old. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland, at the NIH Clinical Center.

Do you have cystic fibrosis and are you eligible for a lung transplant? This study is interested in learning more about the presence and location of certain bacteria in the lungs of people who have cystic fibrosis by examining lungs that have been removed from patients who have cystic fibrosis who are undergoing a lung transplant. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old, have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, be eligible for a lung transplant, and have tried all other available treatments without success. Do you or your child have a platelet, bleeding, or white blood cell disorder? This study is looking at people who have platelet or other blood disorders. The researchers will use a blood sample to look for problems with platelets and a possible genetic cause in the participant’s DNA or RNA. To participate in this study, you must be a child or adult who either is healthy or has a platelet disorder, coagulation disorder, or white blood cell disorder. This study is located in New York, New York.

Does your infant have a low platelet count? This study is investigating the safety and efficacy of platelet transfusion as a treatment for infants with thrombocytopenia. Researchers are looking at the positive effects of platelet transfusion against the negative effects, such as the release of inflammatory molecules and the formation of blood clots. To participate in this study, your child must be younger than 6 months old and have a low platelet count (less than 100 × 109/L). This study takes place in Boston, Massachusetts.
