This study is testing whether a medicine called metformin can help treat aortic aneurisms in the abdomen. The study will use imaging tests to examine whether metformin can help prevent these aortic aneurisms from getting bigger. To participate in this study, you must be 55 to 90 years old and diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurism. This study takes place in Stanford, California.

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare different types of blood transfusions for critically injured patients who require large-volume blood transfusions. Participants must be at least 15 years old and need a massive blood transfusion. Do you or your child have a platelet, bleeding, or white blood cell disorder? This study is looking at people who have platelet or other blood disorders. The researchers will use a blood sample to look for problems with platelets and a possible genetic cause in the participant’s DNA or RNA. To participate in this study, you must be a child or adult who either is healthy or has a platelet disorder, coagulation disorder, or white blood cell disorder. This study is exploring how different diagnostic tests can help us understand how lipid disorders, including high blood cholesterol and high blood triglycerides, affect the body. This study is gathering information on the risk factors for very high or very low levels of lipids, or fats, in the blood. Are you a Hispanic father with a child between 5 and 11 years old? If so, would you be interested in learning how to prevent obesity for you and your child? Researchers are studying whether a father-child together program helps Hispanic dads and their children learn and use healthy behaviors to prevent obesity. You may be able to join if you are 65 or younger and have a child who is between 5 and 11 years old. Stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, or older brothers may be able to join as well. The study is taking place in Houston, Texas.

Do you live in Appalachian Kentucky? Researchers will be using a phone app and incentives to provide health coaching. Participants will be encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables and reduce saturated fats and screen time. They will also monitor your physical activity using a motion device and help you become more active. To join, you must be 18 years or older. The study is taking place in Benham, Kentucky.
