Is your child having otolaryngologic surgery with anesthesia? Children with Down syndrome often experience dangerously low heart rates when they receive anesthesia for procedures. This study will look at children who have Down syndrome and children who do not to monitor their heart rate during this type of procedure. Participants in this study must be between 1 and 8 years old. This study is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Are you an adult with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS)? This study is investigating whether an antibody-mediated autoimmune reaction lead to the dizziness and other symptoms of POTS. The study will also test whether vagal stimulation improves POTS symptoms. This study takes place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Do you have mitral valve disease? This clinical trial is testing different types of images taken of the heart to learn more about mitral valve disease and the best ways to treat it. You must be 60 years old to participate. The study is enrolling patients in locations in Arkansas, California, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Quebec City, Canada.

Do you have coronary heart disease or are you healthy and would like to participate in research? This study is comparing how well two types of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners can detect different types of heart diseases, such as coronary heart disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, and heart valve disease. The new type of MRI scanner in this study uses less energy than a traditional scanner and may be suitable for people who have metal devices in their bodies. Are you scheduled for open-heart surgery for your aortic valve? This study aims to look at changes in inflammation and gene activity while surgery patients are on a heart-lung bypass machine. To participate in this study, you must be at least 20 years old and be scheduled for aortic valve surgery, either with or without coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
