Do you or your child have a lung disease? This study will investigate the genes involved in the breathing process and in the development of lung diseases such as asthma or sarcoidosis to improve understanding of the role they play. To participate in this study, you or your child must be between 2 and 90 years old. This study is located in Bethesda, Maryland, at the NIH Clinical Center.

Do you have a family history of high cholesterol? Researchers are studying whether a particular medication can lower cholesterol in people with a family history of high cholesterol. You may be able to participate if you are 18 to 69 years old, have not had a heart attack or stroke recently, and do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure. This study will take place in Nashville, Tennessee.

Are you an adult with Type 1 diabetes? If so, you may be able to participate in a clinical trial where researchers are studying the effect of lowering cholesterol on blood platelets and white blood cells. You may be able to participate if you are 18 to 89 years old, have type 1 diabetes, and are willing and able to receive injections and take medications that may lower your cholesterol. The study is taking place in New York City, New York.

Are you an adult who is healthy or has problems with the level of cholesterol or other lipids in the blood? This study is gathering information on the risk factors for very high or very low levels of lipids, or fats, in the blood. Researchers will collect participants’ demographic information, medical history, and blood samples. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old. The study is to investigate that the worsening orthostatic tachycardia and symptoms after glucose ingestion in POTS patients are due to a greater increase in splanchnic venous capacitance and excessive blood pooling during an orthostatic challenge.

This study evaluates a sensor-controlled digital game (SCDG) to motivate self-management behaviors of weight monitoring and physical activity in adults with heart failure (HF). Half of the participants will receive the SCDG app and weight monitoring and physical activity sensors and the other half will receive only the weight monitoring and physical activity sensors.

Researchers are testing whether an online program helps lower the number of times patients with heart failure return to the hospital. You may be able to participate if you are at least 18 years old, have heart failure, and live within 30 miles of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
