Are you an adult who does not have high blood pressure and is interested in research? This study will investigate how the brain regulates the body’s response to stress and how infection with HIV or pre-hypertension affects regulation. Your heart and brain activity will be measured while you are at rest, during a mentally stressful task, and while you feel angry. The study will also test whether a breathing exercise improves regulation. People with and without HIV and pre-hypertension will be included. To participate in this study, you must be between 21 and 65 years old and not have high blood pressure. This study is located in Miami, Florida.

Do you have overweight? Circadian rhythm disorders can cause overweight and obesity. This study is examining how not getting enough sleep causes these complications. To participate in this study, you must be between the ages of 20 and 40 and have overweight but not obesity. This study is located in New York, New York.

Are you a healthy adult who regularly sleeps for 6.5 or fewer hours? This study is examining whether getting enough sleep can lower your risk of high blood pressure. To participate in this study, you must be between 18 and 65 years old, regularly sleep for 6.5 or fewer hours, and be able to adjust your sleep schedule for the study. This study is located in Rochester, Minnesota.

his trial will evaluate an oral drug discovered in a high throughput screen, which increases fetal globin protein (HbF and red blood cells expressing HbF)and messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) to high levels in anemic nonhuman primates and in transgenic mice.

Are you or your child at least 13 years old and have sickle cell disease? In this stidy, researchers are trying to find out if a new medication improves the success of a blood stem cell transplant. People 13 years old or older who are eligible for a blood stem cell transplant to treat sickle cell disease may be able to participate. Healthy family members over age 13 who are matched to transplant recipients are also needed to donate blood for the study. This study is taking place at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Are you at least 18 years old and have sickle cell disease and taking the medication Hydroxyurea? For this study, researchers testing are tool for measuring oxygen levels, blood flow, and the makeup of skin and muscle in patients with sickle cell disease. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and have sickle cell disease and also be taking the medication Hydroxyurea. Are you at least 18 years old and have sickle cell disease? People with sickle cell disease often have problems with their heart, brain, kidneys, liver, and lungs as they age. These problems may improve after transplant. Researchers in this study are trying to learn how and why this happens. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and have sickle cell disease. You must also have a history of problems with your heart, lungs, or other criteria that the study doctor will discuss with you. This is a pilot study to evaluate the feasibility and safety of providing RH genotype matched D+ Red Blood Cells (RBCs) to chronically transfused patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) who type D+ but have formed anti-D and are currently transfused with D- RBC (Red Blood Cell) units.
