NHLBI IN THE PRESS

A healthy diet may not offset the effects of a high salt intake on blood pressure

An NHLBI-funded study suggests that a healthy diet may not offset the effects of a high salt intake on blood pressure. The researchers analyzed the diets of over 4,000 people and the results, published in the journal Hypertension, showed that people eating higher amounts of salt had higher blood pressure - no matter how healthy a person's overall diet.
