Summer 2013

  • The We Can! Summer eNewsletter introduces our new recipe cards for families to use together in the kitchen, and our new easy to use tip-sheets for parents that are also available in Spanish. We also report on the accomplishments of our 2011–2012 Community Site Assistance Award recipients, as well as We Can!'s exciting new partnership with Lets Move! Faith and Communities, an extension of the Lets Move! national initiative.
  • We Can! Teams up with Let's Move Faith and Communities: We Can! is excited to announce its partnership with Let's Move Faith and Communities (LMFC), a component of the First Lady's Let's Move! national initiative. LMFC and We Can! have joined together to help some of our most trusted community leaders, faith-based and neighborhood organizations, help families in their communities keep youth at a healthy weight.
  • We Can! Champion: We Can! salutes the latest Community Assistance Award recipients for a job well done! All of the 16 awarded sites did a fantastic job implementing the We Can! program and recruiting participants in their community. Check out brief highlights of great work from our awardees!
  • Community Site Spotlight: Bringing families together through yoga, yogurt parfaits, and a unique game of tag, We Promote Health is thinking outside of the box in their effort to keep families of Ellicott City, Maryland healthy.
  • Community Site Spotlight: Family, fun, and learning about healthy living can all happen at once, and Community Hospital Anderson's (CHA) We Can! programming has been proving that since 2008.
  • You Asked, We Answered: Get inspired to share information with your community apart from We Can! programming, and ways to access or develop materials in other languages.
  • In Other News: Our new We Can! materials are designed with community sites like yours in mind! Read more to see how GO, SLOW, and WHOA! Flashcards, English- and Spanish-language tip sheets, and a community news article can help your programming help parents and youth eat right, move more and reduce screen time.
