Anemia Symptoms

If you have mild anemia, you may not have any symptoms. Symptoms of anemia may develop quickly or slowly, depending on the cause of your anemia. General symptoms that are the same for many types of anemia include:

  • Weakness
  • Paleness
  • Tiredness
  • Chills
  • Shortness of breath
  • Headache
  • Dizziness and fainting
  • Bleeding
  • Jaundice Jaundice (JAWN-dis):
    A condition in which there is too much bilirubin in the body. It causes the skin and the whites of the eyes to become yellow and the urine to darken. Jaundice may occur when the liver is not working properly or when a bile duct is blocked.
