The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) convened a Working Group meeting on September 21-22, 2017 in Bethesda, MD to assess the latest research findings in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF); identify research gaps and barriers that are specific to HFpEF; discuss emerging research methodologies on how best to address the identified knowledge gaps and barriers; and develop recommendations for research directions in HFpEF for the next 5-10 years. The Working Group consisted of leading experts in heart failure, HFpEF, and related fields.

The objectives of the “Role of Lipid Droplets (LDs) in Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome Related Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD)" working group were to evaluate the state of the field in LDs, identify the gap areas, and recommend research opportunities to investigate the roles of LDs in the pathogenesis of obesity- and metabolic syndrome-related CVD.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) convened a working group (WG) on Future Research Directions on Lipoprotein(a) and Cardiovascular Disease in Bethesda, Maryland to evaluate the state of the art of Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) research and the roles of Lp(a) in cardiovascular disease (CVD), to identify research gaps and barriers, and to recommend future research opportunities in Lp(a) research.
