This workshop will convene a multi-disciplinary group of investigators to identify research gaps and opportunities for delineating normal molecular and cellular lung homeostasis, the pathobiology of lung remodeling, and mechanistic targets and strategies to reverse deleterious lung remodeling to restore optimal lung function. The workshop brings together experts in cellular regeneration/remodeling from the areas of lung: mucosal immunology, epithelial, matrix, smooth muscle, and vascular, as well as experts in chronobiology. We also plan to incorporate experts in the space of reliable and diverse investigational models— from single cells and animals to humans—that reflect individual variation needed to reproduce normal functioning of the lung and to reflect the activities of molecular targets in those systems and related diseases. The workshop will consist of 4 sessions: Realizing the Promise of ‘Omics and Other New Technologies, Embracing Cellular Diversity, Triggers and Paths to Remodeling, and Taking Cells to Cures. These sessions will also include small breakout sessions for a more detailed discussion.
