Blood Diseases & Disorders Education Program 2025-2026 Community Subcontract Program
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) Blood Diseases & Disorders Education Program (BDDEP) 2025-2026 Community Subcontract Program is seeking proposals from organizations around the country for programs and initiatives focused on promoting awareness of the importance of blood donor diversity and increasing blood donation among Black or African American communities.
NHLBI expects to award up to three organizations, with each award not to exceed $50,000 for a 1-year period of performance to support community-driven initiatives that align with BDDEP’s health education goals and build upon findings from formative research findings presented in the Blood Donation: Motivators and Barriers—Insights from Black or African American Donors and Non-Donors Focus Group Report.
Projects should address three key goals:
- Raise awareness about blood donation benefits and the importance of blood donor diversity within Black or African American communities;
- Educate these communities about blood donation safety, eligibility, and the donation process, through culturally relevant efforts; and
- Foster community involvement and help promote community events, such as health-oriented events and/or blood drives.
