Protein Conformation and Dynamics Postdoctoral Fellow Position

The Organization

The Laboratory of Protein Conformation and Dynamics in the Biochemistry and Biophysics Center, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH, Bethesda, MD, seeks highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to study protein misfolding and aggregation processes associated with human diseases, such as alpha-synuclein in Parkinson’s disease and TDP-43 in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We take a broad and multidisciplinary approach to develop a mechanistic understanding of amyloid formation in a cellular environment.

About You

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree awarded within the past 2 years and a record of at least three first-author publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Strong background in protein folding, membrane biophysics, and advanced spectroscopic and imaging techniques are highly desirable. Experience in mammalian tissue culture, mass spectrometry, biochemical analyses such as western blotting and immunoprecipitation are also desirable.
