The Organization

The Laboratory of Protein Conformation and Dynamics in the Biochemistry and Biophysics Center, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH, Bethesda, MD, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a team of physical chemists and biochemists to study proteins associated with amyloid diseases. We take a broad and multidisciplinary approach to tackle the complex problem related to amyloids and disease. We have expertise in numerous biophysical techniques and utilize tools from molecular biology and biochemistry. Our ultimate goal is to unravel the molecular basis for pathogenesis.

The Role

In expanding the scope of our research, a candidate with strong backgrounds in cell biology and fluorescence microscopy, including but not limited to the following: FCS, confocal, and fluorescence lifetime imaging is highly desirable. One current aim is to elucidate the cellular mechanisms of amyloid fibril uptake and degradation and thus, individuals interested in endocytosis and/or autophagy are ideal.
