The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is launching a search to identify exceptional leaders for multiple positions within the Immediate Office of the Director (OD) for GS-15 Physician roles.

The Role

Physician (GS-602-15) - Individuals with medical training are needed to support science policy and strategic initiatives supervised by the NHLBI Deputy Director for Clinical Research and Scientific Initiatives. These include but are not limited to efforts to optimize the clinical trials enterprise at NHLBI; the NIH and NHLBI research response to the COVID-19 pandemic; analyses of safety events on NHLBI-supported clinical trials; and other clinically focused NHLBI and NIH science and science-based policy matters.

Highly competitive candidates will have the following credentials, skills, and experience: an M.D. in a discipline relevant to NHLBI’s clinical research portfolio (e.g., cardiology, hematology, pulmonology, internal medicine, and sleep); at least two years of clinical research experience; experience as a project scientist or program officer for NIH grants or contracts; the expertise needed to contribute to overseeing and managing NHLBI’s clinical research portfolio; and eligibility to work as a Federal employee.
