The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences supports research to advance understanding of and interventions for promoting heart and vascular health across the lifespan. It also supports, plans, and conducts research and supports training in the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease and collaborates with other Divisions on lung, blood diseases, and sleep disorders. Studies are conducted to identify temporal trends and population patterns in disease risk factors, prevalence, incidence, and mortality and include large single- and multi-center observational cohort studies.
A Health Scientist Administrator position is available to serve as the Deputy Chair of the NHLBI Data Access Committee (DAC). The NHLBI DAC team plays a critical role in facilitating and implementing responsible data sharing policies/practices in the NHLBI extramural and intramural community, maintaining human subjects protections while leveraging research resources. The Deputy Chair will share in the Chair’s responsibilities of data access oversight, managing the release and use of heart, lung, blood and sleep (HLBS)-related phenotypic and genomic research data. The incumbent will serve as the NHLBI co-lead in developing and implementing genomic data sharing policies for both NHLBI and NIH-wide, and be a part of NHLBI signature data science projects, including BioData Catalyst and TOPMed. The incumbent will also serve as the NHLBI Intramural Genomic Program Administrator (GPA). Desired expertise includes, but is not limited to, training and/or experience in data sharing and related policies, epidemiology, genomics, and/or chronic disease biomedical research disciplines.
