The Biochemistry Core provides expert services and consultation in biochemical enzyme assays and protein purification. The Core currently features 1) Liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to detect the accurate mass of intact proteins, 2) High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) equipped with radiochemical detectors and fluorescence detectors that allow for the purification of an enzyme or protein labeled with a radioisotope or fluorescence probe, and 3) Atomic absorption spectrometry to measure metal content.
After training by the Core staff, users can access equipment on a walk-in basis or may reserve time in advance. The reservation scheduler can be accessed here [link] or by emailing the Core staff with the requested date and time.
