NHLBI Showcase Conference Opportunities
Application Due Date: May 16, 2016
The NHLBI Office of Translational Alliances and Coordination (OTAC) works to connect SBIR/STTR awardees with potential strategic partners and investors to advance the further development and commercialization of NHLBI-funded technologies. As part of this effort, OTAC organizes the NHLBI Innovation Conference as a forum for awardee companies to showcase their products to industry executives and investors. The NHLBI also provides support for selected awardees to participate in other life sciences partnering and investor conferences.
In 2016, the NHLBI Innovation Conference (NIC) will be held for the first time in conjunction with a premier early-stage investor and business development conference, the Life Sciences Summit (LSS). Features of this joint event, which will take place from November 1-3, 2016 in New York, NY will include:
The NHLBI also periodically nominates and provides support for SBIR/STTR awardees to attend and present at other industry showcase conferences. Examples of such conferences include:
NHLBI support typically includes:
All companies that have held an active SBIR or STTR award from the NHLBI since June 1, 2014 are eligible to apply to participate in the joint 2016 NIC-LSS event or to be nominated to receive financial support to attend one of the other showcase events listed above. Companies that delivered an oral presentation at an NHLBI Innovation Conference in 2015 are not eligible for the 2016 NIC-LSS event.
How to Apply
Please email Gary Robinson to request application materials. The deadline for submission of applications is 5PM ET on May 16, 2016. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of external investors and industry experts. Based on these evaluations, the NHLBI will select or nominate companies to attend and present at each of the conferences.
Please note that the NHLBI Showcase Event Application is the only application required for the 2016 NIC-LSS event. However, most of the other conferences have their own application procedures and selection criteria. Companies are responsible for submitting the necessary application materials to these conferences. The NHLBI Showcase Event Application will be used by the NHLBI to make independent decisions about providing support to companies to attend and present at those conferences.
