Driving Directions to the Hotel

From I-95 North: (Baltimore, Philadelphia, Wilmington, NY and NJ): Take I-95 South toward Washington DC. At I-495 (Capital Beltway) proceed West towards Silver Spring/Bethesda. Take Exit 34 (Route 355 or Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike) and proceed South toward Washington/Bethesda. Proceed on Route 355. The hotel is about 2 miles on the right hand side.

From I-95 South: (Richmond, VA Beach, North and South Carolina): Take I-95 North toward Washington DC. Take I-395 North via Exit 170A on the left. Merge onto I-495 North/Capital Beltway via Exit 170B toward Tysons Corner. Take Exit 34 MD 355 toward Wisconsin Avenue Bethesda. The hotel is about 2 miles on the right hand side.

From Route 66 East: (North Virginia, McLean, Fairfax): Take Route I-66 East toward I-495 North/Capital Beltway Baltimore. Take Exit 34 (355) South toward Wisconsin Avenue/Bethesda. Proceed on Route 355. The hotel is about 2 miles on the right hand side. From I-270 South: From I-270 South take MD-355 South via the exit toward Bethesda. Proceed on Route 355/Wisconsin Avenue. The hotel is about 2 miles on the right hand side.

From Eastern Shore: Take Route 50 West via ramp on the left toward I-97 (Washington/Baltimore). Merge onto Capital Beltway I-495 North via Exit 7B. Take Exit 34 MD 355 toward Wisconsin Avenue/Bethesda. The hotel is about 2 miles on the right hand side.

Visiting NIH

The Natcher Conference Center (Building 45) and the Lister Hill Center Auditorium (Building 38A) are located on the main campus of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. The NIH, like all Federal government facilities, has security measure in place to ensure the safety of all employees, patients and visitors.

All visitors must go through a security screening, so please allow extra time to get on campus. You will need to show valid government-issued photo identification (i.e. driver's license, passport, or other government agency ID). Read complete details regarding the NIH security screening process.

Because visitor parking is severely limited, you are strongly urged to take public transportation. The Metrorail subway system has a station (Medical Center) on the NIH campus.

By Air

The Washington, DC area is served by three major airports:

Travel time from all three airports to the Bethesda-area hotels and the NIH campus is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

By Train

Union Station serves the Washington, D.C. area. It is approximately 45 minutes to Bethesda-area hotels and the NIH campus from the station.

By Taxi

From Ronald Reagan Washington National 21 miles to NIH; fare is approximately $40

From Dulles International Airport: 28 miles to NIH; fare is approximately $50

From Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport: 35 miles to NIH; fare approximately $70
