Logistics for Form and Function: New Views on
Disease and Therapy for the Heart Workshop
Location and Accomodations: The
Bethesda
Marriott Hotel at 5151 Pooks Hill Road in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. The
hotel is being sent a master list of participants and will be paid directly by
NHLBI. Please call the hotel (301-897-9400 or 1-800-228-9290 in the US and
Canada) and mention the event, "Form and Function," to confirm your arrival and
departure dates. As the meeting will begin at 8:30 am on Thursday, April 25,
you are encouraged to arrive on Wednesday, April 24.
The Marriott Hotel is about 30-40 minutes from
National Airport and
about 60 minutes from Baltimore-Washington or
Dulles International
Airports (during non-rush hour). Local taxis will likely know the hotel. You
will be re-imbursed for taxi fares or the use of your automobile. Fares of
seventy-five dollars ($75) or over will require a receipt.
Meals: Continental breakfast, breaks, and lunch
will be provided. Dinner on Thursday will either be arranged in the hotel or
you will be reimbursed for dinner on your own. I am also looking into arranging
a dinner for Wednesday night so participants can interact informally with each
other. I hope you can join us.
Travel Arrangements: For domestic travelers,
please make your travel arrangements as early as possible through Omega World
Travel (800-723-9403) and mention the "Form and Function" meeting and meeting
code 2222 when making reservations. Please contact Omega as soon as possible so
tickets can be mailed. Omega can also arrange for tickets to be picked up at
the airport (although you may not receive a seat assignment). Domestic flights
arranged through Omega Travel will be paid directly by the NHLBI.
For international flights, please arrange your flights
as early as possible and use a United States airline, if possible.
International flights will be reimbursed after the meeting, following
submission of the forms and receipts.
Please carry a copy of your letter (or email) of
invitation when you travel. The letter verifies you are traveling on US
Government business and are eligible for Government Airfare.
The Meeting: Slide, overhead, and computer
projectors will be available. Please contact me if you need special equipment,
or for other requests. Staff will be in the room to receive slides or
PowerPoint presentations and to help set up. I would appreciate receiving
Powerpoint or other computer presentations at least three days prior (April 22)
to the meeting.
