From generating media attention, hosting screening events, and convening COPD coalitions to disseminating materials and even driving traffic to the campaign Web site — the Breathe Better Network is engaged, active, and working hard to spread the word about COPD.

  • Photo from a full-day workshop, entitled Community Partnership Planning: Setting the Stage for Progress, on March 3, 2009 in Bethesda, Maryland.The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute‘s COPD Learn More Breathe Better® campaign convened a full-day workshop, entitled Community Partnership Planning: Setting the Stage for Progress, on March 3, 2009 in Bethesda, Maryland. Fifty-three COPD advocates participated, including representatives from 15 of the campaign’s 18 community partner sites as well as leaders from national partner organizations. The workshop was designed to support the evolving needs of the Network, helping community-focused coalitions move beyond start-up activities and discussions and move toward sustained outreach activities.

  • The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) ran an advertisement in the October and November issues of its publication American Family Physician to promote the COPD module of the AAFP METRIC program. This program is an online continuing medical education (CME) activity focused on chronic diseases. The advertisement also directed the publication’s audience of family physicians to the COPD Learn More Breathe Bettercampaign Web site and highlighted that November was COPD Awareness Month.
