Abstract: The American Lung Association presents the webinar "COPD Support for Today, Solutions for Tomorrow" webinar on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Caregivers and patients of COPD will discover new strategies for managing COPD, hear inspiring stories from other caregivers and patients on how to cope with the disease, and get updates in treatment advances, medications and clinical trials. Joe Ramsdell, M.D. Division Head and Professor of Medicine at the University of California in San Diego, will lead the special feature presentation followed by an interactive discussion led by members of the American Lung Association's Better Breathers Club.

Abstract: Better Breathers Clubs provide ongoing techniques and information for individuals suffering from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) and other debilitating lung diseases. The objective of the Better Breathers Club is to provide persons suffering with lung disease information on how to live with the disease; education on oxygen and other devices; increase exercise tolerance; to control and reduce, if possible the symptoms of breathing difficulties; decrease in hospitalizations, traveling, and more. These meetings will provide persons who suffer from these often debilitating illnesses a forum in which they can share and learn from persons with similar experiences.

Abstract: The COPD CME Center is hosting an event that will also be streamed online for pulmonologists, primary care physicians, registered nurses and other health care professionals interested in the care of patients with COPD. The webcast/live event provides educational resources on the development of appropriate COPD management strategies for patients who have physical or mental comorbidities, as well as others who are difficult to manage; the utility and effectiveness of the different types of inhalation devices used in COPD maintenance; awareness, knowledge, and confidence in selecting nebulization maintenance therapy for COPD patients requiring or preferring this form of therapy; and appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families.

The Respiratory Rally is for people suffering from lung diseases, their caregivers and supporters. Free health screenings, snacks, giveaways and seminars will be provided throughout the day and prizes will be awarded for best costume(s) and/or decorated respiratory equipment.
