Thanks for the recipes my husband and I love to eat and we are really overweight but these recipes made it better.

The recipes as tested were easy to prepare and flavorful. However, it would be helpful to have the protein and total carb data along with the other nutritional values. That would make these recipes more friendly to those with an assortment of health concerns, as those who want to eat heart healthy may have other health issues as well.

Thanks so much - I will use this with my patients and at my house! Not only Blacks in the South like these foods - they are also many of the staple foods of White people, too. Thanks for the great recipes.

My husband just had a heart attack and has been told to modify his diet to low sodium, low cholestral and low fat. I found the recipes in this cookbook to be excellent for my husband. They give me a way to continue preparing his favorite foods that are healthier for him.

I have really enjoyed the recipes I made in this book. Alll of them are great. They were simple and most of the ingredients I had at home. Is there another cook book like this??

So many of us have diabetes. It would be good to show the carbohydrates for those of us that try to control blood sugart level through diet. Which includes portion sizes and carbohydrates. Complex or non-complex.

I find that this is an excellent way to modify the otherwise 'deadly' way of cooking the foods we love the most. The comfort foods of our past are made more accessible to a health-conscious public. I grew up with a lot of these recipes and am very happy to know that they CAN be included in my 'diet' with no loss of flavour!

Splenda substituted for sugar would reduce calories greatly. My family does not notice the difference. For example if a recipe calls for a cup of sugar, I use half a cup of sugar and half a cup of Splenda.

I just want to thank you for providing a way to cook and eat healthy without losing the flavor and the essence of the food. This information needs to be distributed in African American communities in order to educate the people who would never find it online. Thanks again.

People with heart disease frequently have diabetes too. This would be more useful if it included carb amounts.

There are so many recipes that I can make with less time and less ingredients. I feel this is information to share with all my friends. I have found it's not about what cultures eat what foods; its how we prepare the foods we eat that matters the most. This book of recipes is great to share with my church, family and freinds. It's all about staying healthy for life. I regret not finding this website sooner.
