Posted January 29, 2008

In fall 2007, We Can! held two regional trainings: one in Carson City, Nevada, and a second in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. One hundred nine people attended the Carson City training, which was co-hosted by the Carson City Park and Recreation Department and the Washoe Tribal Health Center. Over 150 people attended the Harrisburg training, which was co-sponsored by Pennsylvania Advocates for Nutrition and Activity, and their parent organization, the Institute for the Collective Advancement of Activity & Nutrition at the Penn State College of Medicine.

Participants found the sessions active and engaging, and appreciated learning about ways to adapt new activities to their individual needs. Many of the participants took what they learned back to their communities with them—23 new community sites signed up at the trainings, and over 50 more joined the We Can! movement soon afterward.
