We Can!™ Delaware Partner Plans Big January Celebration

Celebratory preparations for the first month of the New Year are well underway in Delaware.

But we’re not talking about ringing in 2009, or even the Presidential Inauguration.

We’re talking about Delaware Physicians Care, Inc. (DPCI) kicking off its 2009 “We Can! Make Healthier Choices” anti-obesity awareness campaign during a special celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, on January 19, 2009.

DCPI is a Gold Sponsor of the MLK Celebration in Wilmington, DE, and will be hosting its own “Wellness Zone” on site during the festivities. The “Zone” will provide a variety of interactive health, nutritional and educational activities for families attending the event.

DCPI has been a We Can! partner since April 2008, and is committed to helping both its members and the community at large become more active.

“Delaware is certainly not unique over any other state in the country where [childhood overweight] seems to be an issue. We know that there are going to be a greater number of folks who are going to deal with health-related problems at an earlier age, as a result of being overweight,” says Kimberly Smalls, DPCI Quality/Prevention and Wellness Coordinator.
