In Your Community

Three kids near race starting line

From North to South, East to West, and even across oceans, the We Can!® movement is steadily growing through the U.S. and in 14 other countries. Word is out that We Can! offers flexible, science-based programs (developed by the National Institutes of Health, the nation’s medical research agency) that are easy to tailor so that they speak to many different communities and ethnicities.

Community sites across the country are using We Can! to provide the types of programs and resources that bring entire communities together to help children maintain a healthy weight through better lifestyle choices.

We Can! can help your community too. If you’re a parent or caregiver you can use the many tips and tools on this site—sample eating plans, physical activity tips, nutritious recipes, etc.—to get you and your family on the road to improved health.

Just as important, you can talk to your friends, co-workers, and others about the importance of eating better, being more physically active, and spending less time in front of the computer, TV, and other screens.

Or, you can go even further by:

  • Running We Can! programs and materials in your community.
  • Convincing a local group (e.g., your employer, your child’s school, your church/temple/mosque, your city’s park and recreation department) to run We Can! program.

Check out the rest of the site for information that can help families in your community.
