NIH Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research
(High School Students)

This program enables students who have a strong interest in pursuing studies related to biomedical or behavioral research, including the disciplines of biology, chemistry, physical science, psychology, computer science, biostatistics, mathematics, and biomedical engineering to receive a research experience at the NHLBI.

All positions are open to students who are U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status. High school students should be at least 16 years old prior to June 1 and applicants must be enrolled full-time.

Who is eligible? All students currently enrolled full-time in high school, college, or graduate school

Duration of support? Summer only - minimum of 8 weeks

Where? In the NHLBI laboratories, Bethesda, Maryland

Applications due? November 15 - March 1

Stipend: Stipends range from $900 for the summer for high school students before graduation to $2,000 for students with three or more years of graduate school education.
