Celebrating Stories of Heart Health

Every woman has a role to play in the fight against heart disease. At this year's Red Dress Collection℠ Fashion Show in New York City, The Heart Truth® will celebrate the personal stories that unite us in a shared journey of empowerment and progress. With support from celebrities and top-notch fashion houses, we will bring to light the beauty and power of the Red Dress℠, the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness.

While women walk the runway to share part of their heart health journeys on February 6, 2013, we encourage you to share your story and take action to protect your heart health. By leveraging our shared power as a community of women, we can help motivate all women to take healthy lifestyle actions that lower their risk for heart disease.

The Red Dress Collection Fashion Show would not be possible without the American College of Cardiology (ACC), which has partnered with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to bring the important message of The Heart Truth to millions of American women.

February 1 is National Wear Red Day®!

American Heart Month serves as a reminder that all of us can take steps to prevent heart disease and control its risk factors. On February 1, Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for heart health—honoring those affected by heart disease and expressing their own commitment to a heart healthy lifestyle.

Join our Rally to Wear Red and Protect Your Heart. Upload a photo of yourself wearing red to our Facebook page, and tell us how you protect your heart health.

Spread the word! On February 1, tell your followers about National Wear Red Day on Twitter using this tweet: "Please RT! Today is National Wear Red Day. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women but it is largely preventable. #HeartTruth"

Participate in #MyHeartChat!

Join our Twitter chat on February 1 from 1-2 p.m. ET by following the hashtag #MyHeartChat. Experts from the NHLBI, the ACC, and Black Entertainment Television Networks will be on hand to answer questions you have related to heart health.

Each February at The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Fashion Show, celebrities parade down the runway in gorgeous red dresses to raise awareness that heart disease is the #1 killer of women. Now, it's your chance! Click here to upload your photo to our new Facebook app and "Red Dress Yourself." Are You Smart for the Heart?

Brigham and Women's Hospital and Sister to Sister teamed up to create Smart for the Heart, a free, personalized online wellness program you can use to improve your heart health. We encourage you to sign up! You can participate in online workshops, calculate your heart disease risk, access resources and recommendations for making positive lifestyle changes, and track your progress as you work toward your heart health goals.

Through the campaign, the NHLBI leads the Nation in a landmark heart health movement embraced by millions who share the common goal of better heart health for all women.

Designed to warn women of their #1 health threat, The Heart Truth created and introduced the Red Dress℠ as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 to deliver an urgent wakeup call to American women. The Red Dress® reminds women of the need to protect their heart health, and inspires them to take action.
