New York Fashion Week Red Dress Collection℠ 2013
On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, The Heart Truth® unveiled its 11th Red Dress Collection at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The fashion show featured 16 celebrities and special guest Cindy Parsons, a heart disease survivor from northeast Connecticut, who walked on behalf of Follow the Fifty, a community initiative funded by The Heart Truth Community Action Program. Each wore a stunning red dress custom-made by a top fashion designer.
The centerpiece of The Heart Truth is the Red Dress℠, which was introduced as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The Red Dress® reminds women of the need to protect their heart health and inspires them to take action. The Heart Truth thanks the 87 designers and 193 celebrities who have contributed their talents and support to Red Dress Collection fashion shows year after year.
The NHLBI partnered with the American College of Cardiology—a 40,000-member nonprofit medical society—to create the 2013 Red Dress Collection. They received support from Diet Coke, which celebrated its 6th year as presenting sponsor of the event, and partner WebMD.
